Discipline: Viral Pathogenesis, Molecular virology and Exploration of anti-viral research through natural compounds.

Research Interest:

The core area of our research work revolves around understanding the epidemiological, molecular and in-silico perspectives of Human Cytomegalovirus biology. Our lab is dedicated to study the current pattern of HCMV infectivity among the different vulnerable patient populations of Eastern India including neonates, HIV infected patients and transplant recipients. Understanding the molecular dynamics of HCMV gene expression and its significant apprehension in causing critical immunological and cell signaling aberrations is also a major point of our interest. We are also working in the translational field to identify and characterize anti-HCMV compounds from natural sources.

We are also conducting our research on serodiagnosis and molecular characterization of circulating strains of Chikungunya virus infections amongst the patients with febrile illness in West Bengal.
